Sairam Institutions, Chennai, founded by MJF. Ln. Leo Muthu, Chairman of Sapthagiri Educational Trust, is a non-profit, non-minority institution dedicated to providing quality education. Established in 1989 with the inception of Sairam Matriculation Higher Secondary School, the group now includes over 20 institutions, including engineering colleges, medical schools, polytechnic institutes, and management schools. Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was started in the year 2008 with an intake of 60. Subsequently, the intake was increased to 90 in 2009-2010 and 120 from the year 2010-11. The department is certified by ISO 9001:2015 and accredited for three years by NBA expert team. The department has well qualified, experienced teaching faculty and supporting faculty, to impart knowledge and skills.

The department has a computer lab with 60 workstations and two servers with all the required software and peripherals as per Anna University and Autonomous syllabus. The department conducts National level technical symposium every year for students. We organizes faculty development programs, guest lectures, seminars, workshops, industrial visits to update the student’s skills. We also encourage the students in the extracurricular activities like Sports, Cultural etc.,
